Yana's POV :
"Yana please come back! Someone will see us," Tulip, my best friend, whisper-yelled from below.
I ignored her completely as I continued climbing the pipe leading to our college principal's office window.
"Yana!! Listen na!" she hissed again.
"What?" I whisper-shouted back dramatically.
"I'm telling you, if you get caught, we BOTH are gone!"
"Pakde jayenge tab na. Shanti se khadi reh aur mujhe woh bag pass kar abhi," I said while balancing myself on the narrow edge outside the window.
I looked at the two windows carefully.
One led to the staff room.
The other-
Principal office.
Perfect.
"Tulip, bag!"
"Wait, Yana..." she said nervously.
I looked down at her.
"How will you unlock the laptop if you don't even know the password?"
A proud smile appeared on my face.
"Just wait and watch."
Some talents are hidden.
Mine just happened to be illegal.
I quietly pushed the window open and climbed inside the office.
Okay.
Now where should I go first?
My eyes scanned the room before landing on the diary kept beside the table lamp.
Jackpot.
You know, my principal is extremely bhulakkad. That man forgets everything except students' attendance.
And thankfully for me, his memory issues were today's blessing.
I quickly grabbed the diary and opened it.
"Oh wow..." I whispered. "Sir has THIS many passwords?"
At this point even Google would get confused.
After flipping through three pages full of random passwords, birthdays, and weird combinations, I finally unlocked the laptop.
Mission:
Delete the email I accidentally sent.
And before you judge me for entering through the window instead of using the door-
our peon, Popat, is sitting outside.
If that man sees me inside the principal's office after college hours, I'm finished.
I know you must be thinking- what am I even doing here.
Well... it's a long story.
It's my second day in this giant university. And yesterday was my first day.
Wait. Isn't everyone supposed to already know that?
Let me take you back to yesterday.
The classroom was filled with so many new students... just like me. Our teacher was absent.
And honestly? I almost felt like being absent too. At least then they wouldn't have to suffer my attendance problem.
But when it comes to professors, they always magically send another one to take class.
Why not just add another student instead? At least I'd get attendance.
Anyway.
The new professor came in and told us to read our books in English.
So obviously, I opened my book.
Or well... a book.
I was reading Haunting Adeline.
Isn't that a book? Last I checked, it had pages and everything.
But apparently, my professor didn't agree with my "academic choice."
She got angry.
And I was confused.
Didn't she literally say "read your books"?
If she wanted "specific syllabus," she should've said it clearly. Right?
Right??
Later that night, she sent a whole long lecture about "basic English class discipline."
As if I needed a reminder on how to understand unclear instructions.
So yeah... I may or may not have replied in a way that looked like I was resigning from life itself.
But honestly? I was just angry.
At her.
And maybe a little at the principal too.
So I did what any emotionally unstable first-year student would do.
I sent a very simple email to the principal.
Well...
"simple" might not be the correct word.
But I had to delete it before he saw it.
So here I am.
Inside his office.
Trying to fix my academic crimes before they become permanent record.
And you might be wondering...
should I also teach professors how to communicate properly?
Honestly?
I have a plan.
And it definitely does NOT involve going back the normal way.
I again stood outside the window, carefully taking my stuff out of the bag and planning my next move-getting my book back.
Secretly, of course.
Because if I asked my professor politely, she would never give it back. According to her, it was her "story" that I should be reading. Whatever that meant.
Anyway.
I threw my bag down to Tulip and moved closer to the window, a polybag in my hand.
And then someone suddenly JUMPED out of the window.
I flinched so hard my soul almost left my body.
What the hell-
He landed right in front of me like some kind of action hero... or a kangaroo on caffeine.
And in that moment of shock, the bag of eggs in my hand slipped.
Crack.
Silence.
Then-
"You ostrich egg!" I yelled.
The boy straightened up immediately. "What?"
"You broke my egg!"
"You shouldn't have kept them here," he said casually, brushing it off like it was nothing. Then he added, without even blinking, "And listen, I don't have any interest in becoming the father of your children."
My brain paused.
"Wh... whattt-"
He smirked like it was the most normal thing to say in life. "Relax. Even if we did, your kids would probably have great hair."
Before I could even process that insult-complement situation, shouting voices echoed from behind him.
A group of boys were running down the corridor.
He glanced over his shoulder and sighed. "Sorry, babes. Gotta go. We'll meet soon."
"I wish NOT to-" I shouted back.
And then, he jumped.
Not down.
He jumped off the first floor like it was a normal Tuesday.
My eyes widened in absolute horror as I rushed to look down.
What the-
But then I exhaled sharply.
Relief.
He hadn't actually died.
A group of boys were already there, catching him like this was some routine activity for them.
What kind of behavior is this?!
Idiots.
That's the only word that fits.
I shook my head, grabbed my book, and turned back to my mission.
Plan failed.
But I still had work to do.
Also... I may or may not have planned to keep those eggs in her bag so she could use them as a pillow for her "free sleep therapy sessions."
Because honestly?
Most of the time, she only sleeps anyway.
But a
s I was about to climb down through the pipe-
I heard my name.
"Yana..."
My body froze mid-movement.
I slowly turned my head.
"Yes... sir?" I replied, already regretting my life choices.
It was the principal.
